Can we do it Sunday....? I'm in for a long ride. Vashon sounds cool. I've not been there.
Sunday is out for Rod and I - plans with the other Spencers
So we will be riding on Sat
I would love to but, I am not really available as I am in Wischeeskin, land of cow shit and beer farts. I did get up early and go to spin class at the local gym so that counts for something I think. Have Rod take you on the Vashon loop that he and I talked about. If you go up from the south, the Dan Henrys should still be there from RAPSody. Have a great time!
Here's a map of a 52 mile loop of Vashon, Maury, and Burton Islands which starts at the north end. It's billed as "very hilly". If we turn it upside-down, we could start from the south.
This critter could start from here, and head out Green Valley, then up the wall at 212th, across Enumclaw, Buckley, South Prairie, and back. You could throw in Carbonado if you were feeling it, but I'm not sure what the tourist traffic will be like this weekend. 60-70 depending on what sort of variations you throw in.
The Rando's have some very cool routes, but they start with mileage in the neighborhood of 120 miles, and go up from there.
I'm in, and long as we can be locked and loaded by the start time.
Calnan - the maps are awesome. I'm going to see if I can put together a group to ride Vashon on Sunday as well. we can compare notes afterwords. The route looks fun.
i think MDS and Tony might join me for Sunday. we'll see. Thanks to Shutter girl for the suggestion.
For Sat - the Vashon route looks great.
The ferry leaves Fauntleroy at 8:55 AM - does that work for you John?
Do you want to meet at our house and carpool to the ferry dock?
Carpooling works for me. What time should I be at the Spensa-rosa? 8?
yep 8 am at the spencercasa for anyone who wants to carpool to the Ferry
The route sheet includes a dead-end... manzanita beach road no longer goes through, which causes a very painful back-track. If you skip Maury Island completely, you'll still have 35 fairly challenging miles. If you want more climbing, Maury Island is what you seek, just turn left on 260th from Dockton Road, cutting out a few miles and some frustration.
